The Yaesu FT-70DR/DE is a dual-band analog and digital C4FM walkie-talkie operating on the 144/430 MHz frequencies.

The FT-70DR provides up to 5W of RF power, and its large front speaker delivers 700mW of audio output. The new digital FT-70DR includes our exclusive Automatic Mode Selection (AMS) function. AMS detects the operating mode of the received signal, whether it’s digital FM or analog C4FM, and then automatically and instantly switches the receiver to the appropriate mode. Users don’t need to manually switch between modes. The multicolor mode indicator LED displayed on the front panel allows the operator to easily see in which mode the FT-70DR is at any given moment.

Another distinctive feature of the FT-70DR is the Digital Group Monitor (GM) with DG-ID (Digital Group Identification) and DP-ID (Digital Personal Identification), now included in the FT-70DR, to simplify GM operation.

The FT-70DR is built to commercial-grade standards, including an IP54 rating for dust and water protection, making this radio suitable for operation in the toughest environments.

Programmable VFO scanning scans all channels in the desired frequency range, memory scanning allows scanning of user-selectable frequencies, and priority channel scanning can be used to scan memory channels while one channel is set as a priority.

Automatic Mode Selection (AMS): The automatic mode selection function detects the received signal’s mode. The transceiver automatically selects one of the four communication modes based on the received signal. This is very convenient when listening to communications, as you don’t need to be aware of the other party’s communication mode. The transceiver can also be operated in a fixed communication mode.

Other advanced features include an external DC jack for DC power supply operation and battery charging, a mini USB port for convenient programming and software updates, CTCSS/DCS operation, automatic power-off function (APO), RF mute, transmitter output timer, and busy channel lockout (BCLO).
